Our latest project took us to the heart of the Lake District, working alongside Langdale Leisure Ltd to transform the changing facilities at the prestigious Langdale Hotel & Country Club near Ambleside.

High-traffic environments like fitness and leisure centres require more than just aesthetic appeal; they demand materials that offer longevity, hygiene, and resistance to constant moisture.

The Challenge: Durability Meets Design

The brief was clear: provide a robust, stylish, and moisture-resistant solution for new changing and shower cubicles. Given the high humidity and frequent use associated with a luxury hotel’s fitness suite, standard materials simply wouldn’t suffice.

The Solution: 13mm Solid Compact Grade Laminate

For this installation, we utilized 13mm Solid Compact Grade Laminate (CGL). CGL is the industry gold standard for wet-use environments. Its dense core is entirely impervious to water, making it the ideal choice for shower cubicles and high-use changing areas.

To complement the structural integrity of the panels, we integrated:

• SAA (Satin Anodised Aluminium) Ironmongery: Providing a sleek, corrosion-resistant finish to all door hardware.

• Heavy-Duty Bench Frameworks: Engineered to withstand heavy daily use while maintaining a clean, professional look.

A Sophisticated Aesthetic

Working with the Fundermax range, we selected a dual-tone color scheme that reflects the natural beauty of the hotel’s Ambleside surroundings while maintaining a modern edge:

• Fundermax 0419 Pinero Pine: Used for the cubicle doors, pilasters, and bench seats. This wood-grain finish adds warmth and a premium “spa” feel to the room.

• Fundermax 0074 Pastel Grey: Used for the internal partitions. This neutral tone provides a sharp contrast, ensuring the space feels bright, open, and hygienic.

The Result

The finished installation at Langdale Hotel & Country Club is a testament to how the right material specification can elevate a functional space into a luxury facility. The new cubicles and seating areas offer a seamless blend of durability and high-end design that will serve the club’s members and guests for years to come.
